Come and join us for lots of fun and exciting activities suitable for all ages!  From NEW performance led tours to finger puppet making, we have something for everyone this half term!

New Performance led tour:  The Trial of Valentine Marshall (11th – 19th February) 

Follow the dramatic tale of Valentine Marshall who was accused of rioting and breaking and entering the property of John Musters Esq, stealing jewellery and setting fire to Colwick Hall during the Reform Bill Riots of 1832.  Our costumed interpreters will guide you through Valentine’s story from his trial and imprisonment to his life in Australia as a convict.

 

Love Token Display in the Convict Ship exhibition

Transportation of British convicts to Australia, during 1788-1868 caused much human loss and anguish.  Convicts were separated from their loved ones, in most cases for life even though sentences normally stated seven or fourteen years, most convicts never returned.

 

Love heart making sessions

Learn how to make an origami love heart and write a message or draw a picture on it to be given to someone you love. 11am – 4pm in the Convict Ship exhibition

 

Castle making – free activity  (Monday 13th February)

Make your own Norman castle 11am – 2.30pm in the Robin Hood exhibition

 

Valentine Day competition draw (Tuesday 14th February)

Enter a special competition draw to win a romantic dinner for two at Iberico Restaurant

 

Edwardian Police Station Tour & Object Handling (Wednesday 15th February)

Join the museum’s Curator as she guides you through the history of the County Police Station and handle original objects from the museum’s collections

 

Knights Helmet - free activity (Wednesday 15th February)

Become a knight and make your own Norman knight’s helmet  11am – 2.30pm in the Robin Hood exhibition

 

Finger puppets (Friday 17th February)

Learn how to make a set of Robin Hood & Merry Men finger puppets 11am – 2.30pm in the Robin Hood exhibition
