This historic site in the heart of the City`s Lace Market was in use as courts and prisons from the 1780s to the 1980s - although there has been a court on the site since at least 1375 and a prison since 1449.

Fabrication of Virtue; The Development of Prisons from Punishment to Reform

Explore the development of prisons from the 18th century to today.  Find out about prison reformers and tour the Galleries' collections including architectural plans and documents about prison history, and see the conditions of Nottingham's county gaol. Booking is essential Contact 0115 952 0555 

"Instruments of Punishment"

An exciting and informative educational worksheet designed to get you thinking about the different and innovative ways in which punishments were given over different time periods. This worksheet will be available from reception throughout Museum and Galleries Month. 

Ghost Tours

There will be a ghost tour held every Monday evening during the month of May.

Tour time: 6.00 until 7.30 pm
Cost: £8.95 per head
Special Offer- Monday 26th only - children 14+ will be able to join the tour (with accompanying adult)
